As we start another extraordinary week, I write to update you on some of the important steps we are taking to respond to the effects of COVID-19 on university operations.
Monday begins virtual learning throughout our university. Thank you everyone for your hard work and flexibility in preparing for this. It is encouraging that in the midst of this worldwide slowdown we can still safely continue our educational mission.
The university is committed to supporting students, faculty and staff through this new way of teaching, learning and working — and to providing resources...
We are excited that classes will resume Monday, and that Ohio State students will be able to resume their academic careers.
At the same time, we recognize that the transition to virtual classwork for the rest of the semester requires innumerable adjustments. Our faculty and staff deserve great credit for developing ways of delivering their courses in such a short time period.
We know that students also will be adjusting to new ways of learning, and the university is committed to supporting you through this journey. We do not want you to...
On behalf of the university, I want to thank Buckeyes everywhere who are contributing to the fight against the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). We are all in this together. Many of you are on the front lines, continuing to deliver critical services and much-needed health care. We deeply appreciate what you are doing to keep us safe.
For most of us, the best way to be helpful at this unprecedented time in our history is to stay at home to stop the spread of the disease. COVID-19 is the enemy. That enemy is only able...
Late yesterday, we learned that two members of our university community have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). These are the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 directly related to the Ohio State community.
The cases are unrelated to each other. The individuals are in self-isolation at home, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery. They both returned to central Ohio following separate out-of-state domestic business trips – one to the east coast and one to the west coast. One individual has not returned to campus since becoming symptomatic, and the other individual returned...
Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendation that no large events be scheduled over the next eight weeks, we have postponed our spring commencement.
Our preference is to reschedule for later this spring, but it is premature to select a new date at this time. We will continue to evaluate information as we receive it and communicate a decision later this month.
Commencement is one of our most cherished traditions, and we remain fully committed to celebrating our graduates at an appropriate time. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and understanding....
I want to thank you for offering your support, resources and kindness to our students and the broader campus community. Over the last several days, we have heard from many of you. We appreciate the contributions of every member of our Buckeye family.
We are all aware of the real and difficult effects of the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). We understand that there are many questions and concerns as we move forward. Teams across the university are working in coordination with each other and with partners locally and nationally to manage these challenges as effectively and efficiently...
I write to share important new information about requirements that employees work from home and building closures, including recreational sports indoor facilities and university libraries.
The university is committed to doing everything possible to promote the safety of our community as we respond to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). We continue to monitor guidance and best practices from local, state and federal agencies during this extraordinary and challenging time. Information and resources on the university’s coronavirus website are updated regularly, including today’s announcement that the university is adjusting the end of the academic calendar for...
Thank you for your hard work to adjust to the many disruptions caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We have taken each step to safeguard the health and well-being of the Ohio State community while continuing to advance our academic mission.
We want to ensure that students and faculty do not lose time for teaching and learning because of the extension of spring break and resumption of classes on Monday, March 23. Therefore, we are adjusting the end of the academic calendar for spring semester so that there are nearly the same number...
As you follow news about coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to make sure you know precisely what to do if you are experiencing possible symptoms or believe you may have been exposed.
If you are experiencing signs or symptoms of respiratory illness consistent with coronavirus, have been exposed to an individual with coronavirus or have been diagnosed with the virus, you should contact your primary care physician.
If you are unable to reach your primary care physician, call the Wexner Medical Center’s COVID-19 call center at (614) 293-4000 for guidance.
These past several weeks have presented all of us with real and difficult challenges related to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). I want to convey how proud I am of your understanding, flexibility and collaboration during this extraordinary time for our university and the communities we serve.
We understand that there are many questions and concerns as we navigate multiple issues. Teams throughout Ohio State are working in coordination with each other and with partners at the city, state and federal levels to manage these challenges as effectively and efficiently as possible – and we...
